Tennis Finishes 6th in National Polls with 4 All-America Selections

The Golden Tigers tennis team finished the 2013 season ranked 6th nationally in the NAIA Top 25 coaches poll with four players on the All-America list – all of whom return for the 2014 campaign. Junior Dominika Josova of Kosice, Slovakia, ranked previously as the top junior college player in the United States, made first team All-American and both Vladica Djurdjevic from Jagodina, Serbia, and sophomore Maria Perdomo Medina from Canary Islands, Spain, were picked for second team. Zalina Nazarova of Nalchik, Russia, a junior transfer from the University of Texas, was an honorable mention on the list. In addition senior Eline Nagels of Antwerp, Belgium, was named as a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA scholar athlete. The Tigers, who also finished the 2012 season ranked sixth in the nation, stayed at the top of the rankings throughout the season including two No. 1 rankings in mid-season polls. The team went into the national tournament ranked No. 3 but, after a bye in the opening round, lost a close match with sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson College, splitting the six singles matchups and losing two of three doubles contests.
