It’s a busy time for Alumni Relations!
First, we are excited to announce the re-establishment of the Brenau Alumni Association. The association’s mission has five parts:
- To promote the development and growth of Brenau University by providing an opportunity for alumni to serve their alma mater both individually and collectively;
- To serve as a link between alumni and the University;
- To stimulate interest in the financial support of Brenau;
- To encourage a common spirit of camaraderie among all alumni; and
- To strengthen the traditions of Brenau University.
Brenau alumni of all programs (Academy/Early College, Women’s College and non-traditional programs) are automatically members of this unified association, which is not fee-based. Under the umbrella of the association, we have established three councils to represent the interests of the three alumni experiences listed above, as well as five committees to aid in growth of key areas. Leadership has been identified in many areas of the association structure, but there are still several positions to fill. Please contact us if you are interested in serving! The Alumni Association board will convene for their first meeting in late Spring 2013.
Internally, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Special Events have merged, creating a stronger, broader department. With this shift, Tami Williams Lee, WC ’02, Brenau’s longtime director of special events, will be working more closely with Alumni Relations as we seek to serve Brenau University alumni with quality programming, frequent communication and meaningful opportunities for support.
And we can’t forget about the exciting additions being made for the 2013 Alumnae Reunion Weekend. All Women’s College and Academy/Early College alumnae will receive the weekend’s registration packet via U.S. Mail in January. The packet will include information about events for Friday, Saturday and Sunday – including annual favorites like milestone reunions for the Classes of 1963, 1988 and 2003; 24 Karat Club Luncheon; Champagne Brunch; May Day festivities; and sorority open houses. New this year, we’ll send alumnae “Back To Class” with several seminar options. They can also participate in a group community service opportunity, host receptions for specific departments, enjoy an Academy reunion, reinstate the five historical alumni awards at the Awards Banquet, and honor those who have gone before us at a Service of Remembrance. Plus, Alpha Gamma Delta will celebrate 100 years on the Brenau campus, and Chi Omega will remember its sisterhood at a 50th Anniversary dinner.
We are busy, indeed, and the Office of Alumni & Events is hard at work growing and expanding our offerings for Brenau alumni. Contact us anytime – to catch up, to make a suggestion, or to get more involved with your alma mater.
See you soon,
