Shena Gazaway, WC ‘05, BU ‘09

Shena Gazaway, WC ‘05, BU ‘09, successfully completed her dissertation in the nursing program at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, on March 28. Her dissertation explored how various mentoring programs support work transition six months after graduation. Gazaway is also a nursing instructor at Augusta University’s Athens campus.

LaSharn Lockett Hughes, BU ‘98, BU ’04, was appointed executive director of the Georgia Board for Physician Workforce in June 2016. She was previously the executive director of the Georgia Composite Medical Board for 12 years.

Shavonda Lewis, WC ’04, is volunteering for the next year as a program manager fellow for the International Justice Mission in Kenya. IJM is a global organization that protects the poor from violence in the developing world. Their goal is to rescue thousands, protect millions and prove that justice for the poor is possible.

Sarah Magness, WC ’07, gave birth to her daughter, Emma Carolyn, on Feb. 14, 2016. Sarah and Emma live on Wake Forest University’s campus in Winston-Salem, N.C., where Sarah is a residence life coordinator.

Kayla Moore Fritz, WC ’13, and husband Dean, along with their son Harrison, are proud to announce the birth of baby boy Axel Rowan Fritz on Dec. 19 at Piedmont-Athens Regional Hospital. Axel was 6 pounds, 15 ounces and 18.5 inches long.
