John King, BU ’97
John King, BU ’97, was named Georgia’s insurance commissioner and safety fire commissioner by Gov. Brian Kemp. With the appointment, he becomes the first Hispanic constitutional officer in Georgia history.

Beverley Reichman, BU ’93
Beverley Reichman, BU ’93, wrote a new book titled Kevin CAN. It is a positive story for children who struggle with reading and writing. Published by Newman Springs Publishing, Reichman’s motivational story offers encouragement and hope to children who struggle like the book’s title character.

Connie Stovall, BU ’91
Connie Stovall, BU ’91, was named the National Association of Elementary School Principals National Distinguished Principal of the Year for middle-level principals in Georgia.

Melissa Sockwell Bollinger, WC ’88, and Kade Bollinger, BU ‘19
Melissa Sockwell Bollinger, WC ’88, is happy to announce that her oldest son, Kade Bollinger, BU ‘19, graduated from Brenau on May 4 with a master’s degree in teaching and married his high school sweetheart, Kenzie Goswick, on June 14. Kade is a history teacher at Habersham Central High School, and Kenzie teaches English at Dawson County Middle School. Also, Bollinger’s youngest son, Ethan, graduated with honors from North Hall High School in Gainesville on May 25. Bollinger and her husband, Tim, are very proud of their boys.

Alumnae from the class of 1987 enjoyed their annual “Still 50 Beach Trip” in June. These Women’s College graduates met as freshmen in 1984 and have remained close ever since. Margaret Serrato, WC ’77
Margaret Serrato, WC ’77, is happy to announce her semiretirement after many years in architectural practice and 10 years as the workplace strategist at Herman Miller Inc. She has taught studio courses part-time at Brenau’s Norcross campus for 15 years. Starting fall term, she’ll be leading Brenau’s online MFA Interior Design program and doing a bit of residential and corporate design. Serrato moved to Coral Gables, Florida, last summer.
Chelsey Holland, WC ’17
Chelsey Holland, WC ’17, is excited to announce that she has accepted a first-grade teaching position with Clarke County Schools in Georgia for fall 2018.

Caroline Dodson, WC ’08
Caroline Dodson, WC ’08, and her husband, Mike, welcomed a son, Ryan Walker, on Jan. 19. They live in New Orleans.

Shannon Grinnan Weeks, WC ’07, received her Doctorate of Education from Piedmont College in December.

Grace Balint, WC ’06
Grace Balint, WC ’06, currently lives in Los Angeles and works in television and film. She is part of a burlesque troupe and leads worship at two different churches every Sunday. She says her many activities put the degree she earned at Brenau to good use. She recently sang in a “1 in 7 billion” commercial for Microsoft and has worked on projects with Jack Black and Jane Lynch.
