Back Home at Brenau
With just a few months under my belt, I can say that I truly made a great decision coming back to Brenau. I am grateful to be able to serve my fellow alumni as the Director of Alumni & Constituent Engagement.
I did not need directions to find my way around campus. It still feels like home. I have very fond memories of my time here as a student. As I walked around campus week one, it just felt so good to be back in a place that is familiar and comfortable.
I am a native of Hall County and grew up in Lula. I graduated in 2004 from Chestatee High School then went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from Brenau in 2009. I chose to complete my education at Brenau partly because my mother received her degree from Brenau College. I attended daytime classes as a Women’s College student during my first three years on campus. However, after accepting a full-time job during my senior year, I wrapped up degree requirements online and with evening and weekend classes at Brenau’s Gainesville and Norcross campuses.
I later returned to the university to earn an M.B.A. in healthcare management in 2012 with a cohort through Northeast Georgia Health System, where I worked for 11 years before coming to Brenau. I served for two years as a patient-care technician and unit secretary and for three years as the health careers coordinator for the Foothills Area Health Education Center. For the past six years I worked as the Preceptor Coordinator for Foothills AHEC, where I was overseeing the community based clinical training program for a 31-county region in Northeast Georgia. I think there have been many skills attained and experiences over the past 11 years that will directly relate to my new responsibilities here as the alumni director.
My husband, Dustin, and I live in Gainesville and have two children, Marley, 4, and Miles, 2.
I always had it in the back of my mind to come back home. It will be wonderful to be on the other side of things, and I am looking forward to serving our awesome alumni body!
