Growing Need
Graduate psychology students at the clinic in Norcross gain clinical experience by lending a hand to children in need through the newly established Brenau Center for Counseling & Psychological Services. Although the clinic serves patients of all ages, a large segment of the clientele are children with learning and behavioral disorders.
The second-year clinical counseling graduate students, working under the close supervision of licensed counselors on faculty and clinic staff, each are assigned specific clients to assist. “In particular, we seem to see a number of young students with grieving and adjustment issues related to divorce or the death of a parent,” says clinic director Josh Hall. Those numbers will increase as Brenau develops more counseling partnerships with public and private schools in the Gwinnett County area.
