ALUMNI HALL OF FAME
The Brenau Alumni Hall of Fame honors alumni from all academic programs who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to their country, state and community, and to Brenau.
Dr. Katharine DuPre Lumpkin, Women’s College Class of 1915
Bachelor of Arts in History Phi Mu (Honored posthumously)
Sociologist, activist, teacher and writer, Katharine DuPre Lumpkin spent a lifetime studying and combating economic and racial oppression. She is best known for her autobiography, The Making of a Southerner, published in 1947. The book left a classic testament of her conflict as a white Southerner committed to racial justice in the segregated South. Lumpkin was from Macon, Georgia, and died in 1988. We are honored to have called her a Brenau woman.
Evanda Gravitte Moore, Women’s College Class of 1971
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
Former member of the Brenau Board of Trustees and past recipient of the Alumni Community Service Award as a result of her active presence as both a volunteer and a philanthropist in the local community.
Resides in Gainesville, Georgia.
Melda Lee Bassett, Women’s College Class of 1974
Bachelor of Arts in Theater & Journalism
Zeta Tau Alpha
Former director of alumnae affairs at Brenau. First female fundraiser at the University of Florida and senior director of development at the University of Florida Foundation.
Resides in Gainesville, Florida.
Jeffrey Seiple, Brenau University Class of 1990
M.B.A.
Director of Body Donation Program at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Georgia campus. Adjunct instructor for second year Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine. Advisory Board Member at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.
Resides in Marietta, Georgia.
Ginger Ragans, Brenau University Class of 2013
Master of Science in Applied Gerontology CCSP care coordinator, certified aging-in-place specialist, credentialed gerontologist and adjunct instructor, adviser and mentor in Brenau’s gerontology department.
Resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
ACADEMY ALUMNAE OF THE YEAR
This award recognizes an Academy alumna who is an active supporter of Brenau.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS JOSEPHINE WINTER RAINEY SCHOLARSHIP
Allie McConnell
Given annually to a Women’s College student who aspires to the Brenau Ideal, who will carry on the spirit of service to Brenau that alumna Josephine Winter Rainey displayed throughout her lifetime, who will inspire and enhance the lives of all Brenau women and who will encourage participation in the life of Brenau after graduation.
ALUMNAE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Katelyn Brown
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time Women’s College sophomore or junior with consideration given to the student’s reflection of the Brenau Ideal, campus involvement, volunteer commitment at Brenau and GPA.
